We are committed to improving the healthcare experience for all stakeholders by providing a vehicle for communications and change in the hope that healthcare will soon be defined as an institution where patients, doctors and staff are consistently treated with dignity and respect.
So who are we? In our private lives we have been patients and we have been caregivers for our families. In our work lives, we operate a private practice and an international corporation that specializes in organizational development and healthcare practice management (www.Pro-Impact.com). We have published books and articles, conducted speaking engagements worldwide and have trained tens of thousands of doctors and their staff to increase their success by aligning their teams to provide better care for their patients.
As healthcare consultants, we talk with doctors and their staff every day. We've seen their triumphs and their pain and we know how hard they work to maintain excellence in their clinical care while, at the same time, running a business, providing a good workplace for their employees and a safe facility for their patients to receive competent care. Yet time and again we've seen that even the best of intentions can fall short - particularly in today's hectic healthcare environment. When problems occur in healthcare, people need help to discover where they are missing the mark and how they can improve their results.
We have consistently found that when the people of healthcare hear positive stories, they are motivated to do more to meet those standards. And when they hear stories of care gone wrong, they become profoundly moved to learn and adopt new skills to avoid those situations in the future.
The fact is that doctors want to give great care and they are open to suggestions for change and strategies for improvement. They want their staff to be courteous and helpful. They want you to feel special and safe. But unless you tell them otherwise, there is no reason for them to think anything needs to change.
